BUYING SUPER BOWL AD TIME MISPLACED GOVERNMENT PRIORITY

VANCOUVER - Spending scarce public dollars on ad time to promote itself during the Super Bowl is testimony to the Liberal government’s misplaced priorities, said New Democrat leader Adrian Dix.

“Programs and services that deliver real tangible benefits to British Columbians are being deprived of funding when Premier Christy Clark and her team spend public dollars on running ads during prime time sporting events to convince British Columbians of their jobs plan.

“This is more evidence the Liberal government’s priority is itself. Fiscal restraint does not apply to government self-promotion, especially ahead of two by-elections," said Dix.

New Democrats estimate the Clark Liberals have spent well over $1 million so far advertising their jobs plan.

Commercials about the BC Jobs Plan ran during the Super Bowl broadcast yesterday afternoon.

In the summer, the government spent seven million of taxpayer dollars to promote the pro hst side during the HST referendum period.
