Farnworth Demands Dedicated Auditors To Fight Gangs

VANCOUVER- New Democrat public safety critic Mike Farnworth says the federal government should appoint 50 auditors dedicated entirely to auditing criminal organizations, gang members and their families in B.C.Mike FarnworthMike Farnworth

“One of the most effective ways to crack down on gangs is to hit them in the pocketbook,” Farnworth said today.

“We want to see these organizations and their members charged for their ill-gotten gains. We want them booked for all possible violations under the law,” said Farnworth.

He said targeting the finances of gangs is a crucial component of a comprehensive strategy to fight gang violence.

“We need every possible tool to stop gangs from harming our neighborhoods” said Farnworth. “In addition to more police resources and tougher sentencing and bail conditions, we need dedicated auditors to crack down on illegal financial activities.

“We cannot let gangs roam our streets in flashy cars, brandishing guns, destroying innocent lives,” said Farnworth. “We need strong measures to fight gangs, including the appointment of dedicated auditors.”
