Joe Trasolini was elected as MLA for Port-Moody Coquitlam in a by-election on April 19, 2012.
Prior to election to the B.C. Legislature, Joe served for 15 years on Port Moody city council, including four terms as mayor from 1999-2011. During his time in the mayor’s office, Port Moody received a number of awards for sustainability initiatives and good management practices. Joe was the first mayor in British Columbia to institute a weekly open door session, an opportunity for constituents to meet with the mayor and raise issues important to them.
Joe served as a Director of Metro Vancouver, and on the Translink Mayor’s Council where he successfully secured funding for the Evergreen Line Skytrain expansion.
Joe immigrated to British Columbia in 1963 from his birthplace in Italy. He graduated from the BCIT Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering Technology Program, and worked in the public and private sector. Since 1985, Joe has owned and managed a contracting firm based in BC.
Joe lives in Port Moody with his wife Cecilia Huang.
