Under questioning in the legislature on Wednesday by New Democrat MLA for North Island Claire Trevena , Environment Minister Barry Penner promised not to allow the Klinaklini River private power project go ahead.

New Democrats Stand Up For Historic Farm Slated For Development

MAPLE RIDGE – NDP MLA Michael Sather spoke out in the Legislature Tuesday to save a 100 year old Maple Ridge farm that was formerly protected by the Agricultural Land Reserve. 

“The slated development of Jackson Farm is another example of the Agricultural Land Commission, under the Campbell government, taking land out of the ALR and handing it over to private developers,” said Sather, the MLA for Maple Ridge Pitt-Meadows.

NDP Calls on B.C. Liberals to Shelve Pitt River Power Project

PITT MEADOWS—Gordon Campbell and the B.C. Liberals must shelve the proposed Run of the River power project on the Upper Pitt River, says NDP Leader Carole James.

"The Upper Pitt is B.C.’s most endangered river," said James. "The Campbell government’s response is to put that river at increased risk by entertaining plans for an independent power project.
