MRI Capacity Not Fully Used, B.C. Residents Wait Longer Than National Average

A Canadian Medical Association study shows B.C. patients wait far longer for essential diagnostics than the national average, says Adrian Dix, Opposition Health Critic.   

“This is easily fixed. We know the Campbell Liberals cap funding for MRI procedures so there is plenty of unused MRI capacity that sits idle," said Dix. “If we better used that capacity, we could get the wait lists down.”Adrian DixAdrian Dix

Wait List Grows For Underfunded Cardiac Procedure

Health E-File Investigation Requires Auditor General Audit, Say New Democrats

B.C.’s Auditor General should conduct an independent external investigation into allegations of financial wrongdoing involving a former senior bureaucrat in the ministry of health, say New Democrats.

NDP Opposition Health Critic Adrian Dix sent an official request today to B.C.’s Auditor General, asking the office to step in and conduct an audit in the overall public interest.

Bill To Make Copeman Investigation Results Public Tabled: Public Has A Right To Know Details, Say NDP

New Democrat Health Critic Adrian Dix tabled a Bill in the Legislature today that would force the B.C. Liberals to release a Medical Services Commission audit related to the Copeman Healthcare Clinic. 

Yesterday, the Minister of Health announced the for-profit clinic, which charges thousands of dollars a year for health services and for the right to even see a doctor, does not violate the Canada Health Act or the B.C. Medicare Protection Act. The Minister refused to release the details of the decision publicly.
