O’Mahony celebrates one week as MLA-elect for Chilliwack-Hope

CHILLIWACK –New Democrat MLA-elect for Chilliwack-Hope, Gwen O’Mahony, reflected on a busy and productive first week in Victoria as she arrived back home in Chilliwack.

“I’m so honoured to be representing the people of Chilliwack-Hope and am greatly looking forward to raising the issues that matter to my constituents in the legislature,” said O’Mahony.

O’Mahony spent much of her first week as MLA-elect at the legislature in Victoria working with New Democrat MLAs.

“I’m excited to be part of such a supportive team,” said O’Mahony. “You can really feel the passion and energy of these MLAs and their commitment to fight for the people of the province.”

O’Mahony said that she has already had the chance to assist constituents and is looking forward to opening a local office as quickly as possible.

She said that she had also enjoyed spending the week with Joe Trasolini who was elected in the Port Moody-Coquitlam by-election.

"With our different political experience and backgrounds, Joe and I are able to bring different strengths to the table,” said O’Mahony.  “It’s been great learning alongside him.”

O’Mahony and Trasolini will be officially sworn in as members of the legislative assembly in mid-May.
