O’Mahony celebrates opening of constituency office

CHILLIWACK– Newly-elected MLA Gwen O’Mahony celebrated the official opening of her office Saturday in Chilliwack. The New Democrat MLA for Chilliwack-Hope is encouraging constituents to drop by and discuss the issues that matter most to them with a week-long open house.

“I’m looking forward to being able to speak with members of my community face to face,” said O’Mahony. “I want people to know that my door is always open.”

O’Mahony noted that she is focused on getting to work on important local issues, including health care, the Agricultural Land Reserve, flooding, and local economic and environmental concerns. She is also looking forward to engaging with First Nations communities.

In addition to the Chilliwack office, O’Mahony is planning to open a second office in Hope in the near future. She will also host mobile MLA meetings in rural communities and have a table at Party in the Park on Friday evenings through July and August.

“I’m eager to be able to reach out to all the diverse communities in the area,” said O’Mahony. “This constituency spans a wide area and I will make sure I'm accessible to people who can't make it into Chilliwack.”

O’Mahony’s Chilliwack office will be staffed by two constituency assistants with experience working in both the Chilliwack and Hope communities.
