Statement on Shawn Atleo’s re-election as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations
Vancouver – New Democrat leader Adrian Dix and Aboriginal Relations critic Scott Fraser issued the following statement on Shawn Atleo’s re-election as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations:
"On behalf of our caucus, we want to offer our congratulations to Shawn Atleo, who was re-elected to a second term leading the Assembly of First Nations.
“Mr. Atleo—a constituent in Scott Fraser’s riding of Alberni-Pacific Rim—is a distinguished British Columbian and a passionate leader of both his own Ahousaht First Nation and First Nations from across Canada.
“We wish him well as he begins his second term of national leadership and pledge to work together with him in the important process of reconciliation between First Nations and the Crown."
